ActivePrint 7.5 Released for iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. What’s New?

We’re very excited to announce the release of ActivePrint 7.5 for your iOS devices! This latest version has only been on the AppStore for a couple of weeks, and it’s already been a great success. Here are some of the new features:

  • Support for printing documents and files from your Box.net Cloud Account. Now you can choose Word Documents, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations, PDF Files, and more in your Box.net account to be printed. Sign up for a free Box.net account at http://www.box.net.
  • Full iOS 4 Support. Many of you have heard about the new iPhone 4 coming out. Some may have even done pre-orders to get one to replace your current iPhone. Whenever you decide to upgrade, know that ActivePrint is completely compatible with iOS 4. And we’ve also added support for multitasking so that you can send your documents to be printed and send it to the background when sending particularly large files to be printed. So no need to wait for the document to finish being sent to the printer if you have an iOS 4 device that supports multitasking.
  • Progress bar for when you’re sending print jobs. Another great feature when you’re sending large files to be printed. Now you can watch the file go to your printer as its happening.
  • New Welcome screen. This was a design change that was recommended by one of the increasingly active ActivePrint Community. Instead of that long welcome message when you first launch ActivePrint on your iPhone or iPad, you’ll see instead a series of large buttons that simply ask “What do you want to print today?” This is to make printing on the go easier and faster for you.
  • Two available downloads on the AppStore, a Pro and Lite version. A couple of months ago we added InApp Purchase to ActivePrint to let users try out ActivePrint for free before buying the full version. We remain the only printing solution for the iPhone and the iPad that does this. However, we still got requests for a version that would allow users to download a full license to all of their iOS devices and not have to purchase a new license for each one. So we’ve added ActivePrint Pro which uses the traditional approach where customers buy the app on the AppStore and then download it to each of the devices in their iTunes Account. But we have kept our Lite version that uses a try-before you buy model.

What’s Next with ActivePrint 7.6?

So that’s ActivePrint 7.5. Now to give you glimpse into what is coming with ActivePrint 7.6. Here are some of the features you can expect with the next free update to ActivePrint:

  • Support for printing documents from your Google Docs and Dropbox accounts.
  • Mac support for the ActivePrint System Server.
  • Simplified Cloud Printing.

Updates for ActivePrint System Server

We’ve added some minor updates to the ActivePrint System Server that everyone should go take advantage of. These updates are mostly improved performance compatibility. You can download it at http://www.activeprint.net.

AppStore Feedback

Are you enjoying ActivePrint on your iPhone or iPad? Find it to be the most useful app you’ve downloaded? Then let the world know through the AppStore. Go to the below URL and tell everyone with a five star rating. Or go even further and write a couple of sentences to let everyone know what you think. It lets other people know what a great app ActivePrint app is and tells us what we’re doing right and even what we’re doing wrong so that we can add new features to the next version of ActivePrint.
